Academic Recovery Program
VCU’s ARP program
- Fall 2023 rollout in PSYC 101
Why PSYC 101 was chosen for pilot:
- Predicted 6 year graduation rate for students who failed PYSC 101 = 16%
- Predicted 6 year graduation rate for students who receive an F in any course = 61%
- 26 initial undergraduates applied and were accepted
- Received
- $1,500 towards: tuition, fees, and educational expenses
- Personal Academic Coaching support
- Incentive program to support resource usage
- The ARP grant also provides for:
- Strong Start Program for enrolled students
- Identified through surveys and early progress reports
- Will receive personal Academic Coaching support and incentive program access
Career Audit Project
- Creation of a career progress tracking tool for students
- Designed and Built by Students for students
- Focus Groups
- 18 focus groups were conducted with students across campus to receive input
on the Career Audit tool’s design and functionality - Surveyed 224 currently enrolled students
- Interviewed 47 through focus groups
- 78% of students supported Career Audit tool’s creation
- 100% of students interviewed believed Career Audit would improve students perception of a college education at VCU
- 18 focus groups were conducted with students across campus to receive input
